Caring For Your Necesse Garments

To ensure your garments’ lasting lustre and durability, here are some essential tips to care for your pieces.

    Dry Cleaning

When thoroughly cleaning your Necesse garments (rather than spot cleaning), we recommend dry cleaning only. This is because dry cleaning allows for:
    • Gentle Cleaning: Dry cleaning uses non-water-based solvents that are less harsh on silk compared to traditional washing methods. This prevents damage to the delicate fibers.
    • Color Preservation: The solvents used in dry cleaning are less likely to cause color fading or bleeding, helping to maintain the vibrant colors of silk garments.
    • Prevention of Shrinkage: Dry cleaning avoids the shrinkage that can occur when silk is exposed to water and high heat.
    • Stain Removal: Professional dry cleaners are skilled in removing stains without damaging the fabric. They can treat spots and stains more effectively than home cleaning methods.
    • Maintains Texture and Finish: Dry cleaning helps maintain the luxurious texture and sheen of silk, preventing the roughness and dullness that can result from improper washing.
When choosing your dry cleaner, offer for a company that specialises in dry cleaning silk (not all dry cleaners do)! Usually, if your local dry cleaner doesn't have strong experience in dry cleaning silk, they'll be able to recommend a dry cleaning company that does.
    • Choose a Reputable Cleaner: Select a professional dry cleaner with experience in handling silk garments. Ask for recommendations or read reviews to ensure they provide high-quality service.
    • Inspect the Garment: Before taking your silk item to the cleaner, check for any specific stains or areas that need special attention. Point these out to the cleaner.
    • Follow Instructions: Ensure that the dry cleaner follows the care instructions on the garment’s label. Some silk items may have specific requirements.
    • Pick-Up Promptly: Once the garment is cleaned, pick it up promptly to avoid any prolonged exposure to cleaning chemicals or improper storage conditions at the dry cleaner's facility.
    • Proper Storage: After dry cleaning, store your silk garment properly. Use breathable garment bags and hang them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading and damage.
